This FstSort sweet potato washing grading line comprises a bubble tank elevator, high pressure brush washer, disinfection tank, air dryer, drying tunnel, picking table, roller grader, simple packing table, and roller conveyor.
Sweet potatoes are loaded into the bubble tank elevator to loosen soil, then conveyed to the high pressure brush washer for thorough cleaning. They next pass through the disinfection tank for a sanitizing soak, followed by the air dryer, which brushes off surface water. The drying tunnel then removes any remaining moisture without damaging the tubers' internal cells.
At the picking table, operators remove defective potatoes and drop them into side discharge hoppers for removal. The roller grader uses a rotating spiral shaft to advance parallel rollers along the grading bed,the gap between rollers gradually widens so that, once a potato reaches its corresponding size, it drops onto the fruit conveyor belt beneath.
Graded potatoes are carried to the simple packing station. Above the station, non powered rollers supply empty crates, which operators fill manually by size. Filled crates are then moved forward on powered rollers for manual sealing.
